Teaching and Learning in the ELP

How we teach

DSC05662Because of the children’s Speech and Language needs, we support the children’s learning by using a variety of visual, real and photographs, music, sound and practical activities to ensure their understanding.

We use:

Makaton signs to support understanding.

large-cued-articulation-chartCued articulation teaches pronunciation and helps to support speech an development. Cued articulation supports their phonic knowledge and development and some cued signs.

Symbols to support their understanding and visual timetables.

We teach creatively and make links across the subjects, trying to give them real experiences as often as possible.

We also use Paget Gorman Signing to help the children remember word endings like ing and ed.
