Football match against Selsdon Primary

 

Well done to all the children who represented Applegarth Academy today in the football friendly against Selsdon Primary School. The game finished as a draw at 1-1. Fantastic performance from Joash, man of the match!!

 

Cross Country

 

Monday afternoon saw the Year 5&6 children compete in the Croydon Sports X – Country event at Lloyd Park. The level of comepetition was very high, but Applegarth Academy competed extremley well! All the children were fanstastic at the event and thank you to all the parents for coming to support the children. Tara from year 6 finished in the top 12, out of 150 runners! What an achievement!!!

Thursday 16th October, Children from Applegarth Academy were selected to run in the Croydon Sports X – Country Event. Well done to all our athletes for perfroming from Year 3&4 through the thick mud, all the children were fantastic! Keira from year 3 was the first to finish from Applegarth, in 34th place out of around 150 runners!
Hockey fixture vs Wolsey

On Thursday 27th March Applegarth Academy travelled the short trip to Wolsey Juniors Academy in the Academy mini bus. The children played in a competitive Hockey fixture, the first Hockey fixture Applegarth have competed in. The children were fantastic role models for our school and played with a winning attitude! The children selected from year 5 and 6 played 6 matches across the duration of the afternoon.

The first game saw Wolsey Reds vs Applegarth Orange, which finished in a 5-1 win to Wolsey.

The second fixture of the afternoon Wolsey Blue vs Applegarth Pink, this win went to Applegarth scoring two goals against the 1 from Wolsey.

Fixture 3, Applegarth Pink vs Wolsey Red – this was a fantastic game, the children worked very hard to get the result of 3-1 to Applegarth!

The final game of the afternoon Applegarth Orange vs Wolsey Blue which finished in a lose for Applegarth! Loosing by just one point only!! 4-3 to Wolsey.

The remaining two fixtures where Inter – House fixtures, Wolsey Blue vs Wolsey Red & Applegarth Pink vs Applegarth Orange. These were friendly matches played with smiles all around!

A special mention to Bradley and Seni who where named as players of the tournament for Applegarth!

Well done to all the children that represented Applegarth Academy in the Hockey!

On Tuesday 25th March, Applegarth Academy played Castlehill in a Football B Fixture.

The children were fantastic and played with extremley well.

Applegarth Academy went into the lead with a great goal from Jonathan Drury. Castle hill got one back to make it level at 1-1. Alex Lacey replied with a beautiful strike from 15 yards out into the roof of the net to take Applegarth into the lead. Castlehill clawed their way back into the game with a late goal. The game finished 2-2.

On Tuesday 18th March Applegarth Academy played in a competitive football fixture against Selsdon Primary School.

Selsdon started the game rapidly applying lots of pressure to the Applegarth defence and finally getting a goal towards the end of the first half!

Applegarth came out into the second half with determination and desire, and we were rewarded with a goal from Josh. I thanks to our efforts. We were playing with confidence and as a team and we began to play fantastic football. Josh. T then went on to smash in the second at close range from a fantastic midfield pass. Edgar scored the final goal finishing the game in a 3-1 win to applegarth.

The children were fantastic and played with great passion! All players played in appreciation of the rules and were super sportsmen and women.

Thank you to all those children who represented Applegarth! You were amazing! Well done on your success!

On Thursday 13th March Applegarth Academy hosted a Basketball Festival which including mini basketball matches with Wolsey Junior Academy children.

Each Academy had two teams which played in an Academy tournament.

The children were fantastic and played with great passion! All players played in appreciation of the rules and were super sportsmen.

Applegarth Academy children were victorious in the series of matches winning all their matches against the opposing team.

The basketball team managed to win their first fixture 6-2, their second 4-0, their third, 2-0 and their fourth and final match 12-2!
